Local authorities, industry, or independent parties deliver green and food waste to our site at Lower House Farm. The in-vessel composting (IVC) process mixes organic material, including food waste, under strictly controlled environmental conditions within a sealed and fully enclosed purpose-built bunker.

The waste is filtered, shredded, and formed into windrows (piles), which are regularly turned for 8-12 weeks to improve porosity and oxygen content and redistribute moisture pockets. It’s left to decompose under regulated temperature conditions. The green matter will reach over 60°C during this period, ensuring complete breakdown and sterilisation.

The organic material passes through a robust, custom-built screening process to remove stones, plastic, and unwanted items, creating a fine British-standard Pas100-certified compost.
